Forgotten Master Password

The master account is a "backdoor" for the system. It is used in circumstances when normal authentication mechanisms are not functioning correctly due to misconfiguration or otherwise.
In the event that one is unable to login to the Архива email discovery and administration console using a normal administrator account, it is necessary to login using the master account.
Usually, the username for the master account is "admin". The password is set in Configuration->Logins during initial system configuration.
In the event that the master account password is forgotten, the server's main configuration file (server.conf) must be modified using a Text Editor such as Wordpad (Windows) or VI (Linux).
The server.conf file is located at:

Search for lines containing security.login.master.password and security.login.master.username and delete them. Furthermore, it is a good idea to disable NTLM authentication by setting "authentication.ntlm.sso=no". After saving the file,it should be possible to login as "admin", "admin" (the default master login password). Once having logged in, goto Configuration->Logins and submit a new master password.

The steps to regain access are as follows:
- Change to the following directory:
/usr/local/mailarchiva/server/webapps/mailarchiva/WEB-INF/conf (Linux)C:\Program Files\MailArchiva\Server\Webapps\MailArchiva\WEB-INF\conf (Windows) - Edit the file server.conf and change security.loginmethod = basic
- Copy users.conf to users.bak
- Copy users.rename to users.conf
- Restart the server
NTLM Authentication Failure
When troubleshooting NTLM authentication problems, it is possible to login using the normal form based on login by entering the direct URL to the form login page:
After typing this URL in the browser, the standard Архива login prompt will appear.
